K-9 Weight Loss is specially designed for the nutritional challenges of overweight dogs. This specialty formula contains Garcinia cambogia, a small, pumpkin-shaped fruit indigenous to Southeast Asia. It is the most abundant source of hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which is a fruit extract with applications inhibiting fat synthesis & appetite suppression. HCA inhibits citrate lyase, a key enzyme that is necessary for fatty acid production. Chromium Picolinate has been used as a dietary supplement to improve glucose tolerance. Chromium is an essential nutrient in normal carbohydrate metabolism, and enhances lipid metabolism. Chromium Picolinate has also been shown to lower LDL blood cholesterol levels and increases HDL blood cholesterol levels. L-Carnitine Fumarate plays a crucial role in the metabolism of fatty acids and energy production. L-Carnitine acts as a fat-burning conduit in the mitochondria of the cell, where energy is produced. The result is beta-oxidation, or fat burning. A combination of vitamins and a proprietary blend of digestive enzymes round out the formula to promote proper canine health. Necessary vitamins included in this formulation are Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, K, E, Folic acid, Biotin and Pantothenic acid. Lipase enzyme along with bile helps digest fat. Deficiency of lipase can result in malbsorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins.
