Acne is a disorder of the skin caused by overproduction of keratin and/or excessive sebum blocking the skin’s pores. Sebum, a mixture of oils and waxes, is secreted by the sebaceous glands to lubricate the skin. When too much Sebum is produced it blocks the skin’s pores. This sometimes leads to inflammation, white heads and/or black heads. In addition, people with poor colon health or who do not efficiently metabolize sugar may be prone to acne outbreaks. Poor diet, consisting of sugars, trans fatty acids, milk, iodine and fried foods in any sizeable quantity and frequency, is a major contributor as well.
